Welcome to my new Travel blog
I want to fast forward to my last days spent in Belize. As I realized time was running down, I began to feel a hint of sadness. Not only would Id be leaving such a beautiful country, but id be leaving a delightful group of women. I bonded with each person while on my trip to Belize, and that is something that I will always hold on to. I would like to share my favorite experience while in Belize. Day 5, we were on our way to Belize City. We stopped in Belmopan, so we could get a tour of Philip Goldson’s house and learn his history. While we were there, we had a drumming demonstration. This would have been our second drumming demonstration. This one was different though. From the moment the drumming instructor walked in, he had a huge smile across his face. He began to talk about himself and the many places he had visited. He spoke about taking in young youth and teaching them how to drum. He explained that by doing this, he was keeping the children out of the violence going on around them. What stuck with me the most was his pure happiness. You could tell that he loved what he did and how rewarding it was to him. I saw a lot of that while in Belize. People were just happy to be there, and to be living. It made me self-reflect about how happy I am in my own life. Often times I place my happiness upon materialistic possessions. When I reflect on my overall experience, I wish I could do it all over again. I wouldn’t change a thing. From the places we when, to the people we met. Belize is such a beautiful country filled with so much history. I am so honored that I got to be apart of this voyage. Hopefully it won’t be my last.
